Independence Day Display Brightens Highland Village, TX

July 3rd, 2008 by dannevitt.com

The Fourth of July would not be the same in one Highland Village, Texas neighborhood, without each and every one of the 450 Briarhill Estates families waking up to a blaze of patriotism as every yard displays an American Flag, compliments of DNA Realty.

National Prides reigns supreme every Fourth of July as Americans break out the barbeque and the red, white, and blue to symbolize devotion to our country.  Within hours of placing the flags, Dan Nevitt’s phone begins to ring with neighbors offering personal stories of gratitude for being greeted with the neighborhood-wide display of flags.  Many have sons and daughters in the armed services and are especially appreciative of DNA Realty efforts to proudly bedeck the community with our country’s bright and patriotic colors.

Distributing the flags is a family event for the members of the Dan Nevitt family.  Ariana, 7, and Annalise, 5, insist on being woken up at 6 am to help dispense flags.  Though very few neighbors are awake to notice them at such an early hour, the Nevitt girls are adamant about being decked from head to toe in America’s favorite colors.  Mom Ariel drives the truck, Ariana sits in the bed of the truck handing out bundles of flags to the “bladers,” and Annalise is the official water girl for the team.

The Nevitt Realty Fourth of July rollerblading team includes Dan Nevitt himself and future NHL stars and lifetime Highland Village residents Austin Horka, 14, and his brother Tyler, 12.  Fast and furious, the guys streak through the neighborhood at the crack of dawn, covering all of 450 Briarhill Estates homes in just over one hour.

Residents of Highland Village embrace the knowledge that as citizens of the United States, there is no other feeling quite like the swell of American Pride, magnified during national holidays and the binding commonality which exemplifies, “United We Stand.”

Happy Independence Day from DNA Realty!

Going Green in Highland Village/Flower Mound/Lewisville TX

June 27th, 2008 by dannevitt.com

6/13/2008

Whether super sized city (Dallas/ Fort Worth) or tiny hamlet (Highland Village/Flower Mound/Lewisville), every home town bears the burden of providing food, shelter, resources, and energy for its residents. Until recently, many US cities and their citizens have been more likely to be the cause of environmental ills than the solution.

Yet today, many cities, like Highland Village, Flower Mound and Lewisville, are finding ways to green themselves in ways that not only make them more livable but that also save millions on municipal budgets and in some cases, as with smoking bans, may even save lives.

I confess that like the other minions of suburbia ballet and soccer moms shuttling our kids all over town, driving my gigantic, gas-guzzling SUV throughout Highland Village and Flower Mound was making me feel more of a deep, non-global shade of aubergine, I realized I had a universal responsibility to make the effort to save the globe & hence turn a lovely shade of bright and positive, planetary green.

Nestled in the suburbs of Highland Village, Texas, I implemented my “green” living plan a few months ago and am amazed at the amount of information I am discovering. The more I learn, the more I want to learn. With all the media attention on the global benefits of going green, I could no longer ignore my blatant non-planetary conveniences.  Once Oprah was on board, I knew it was only a matter of time before I began harassing myself and my family to discover the universal impact which would occur on my favorite planet, Earth.

I now proudly participate in the green movement by:

·        Reducing the number of daily “costume” changes my daughters, Celine & Cher (not their real names) participate in to significantly reduce laundry.

·        Separating our trash into recyclable categories.

·        Saving water from unused drinking cups and using it to water my plants.

·        Bringing my own reusable bags to the store.

·        Denouncing plastic water bottles and investing in aluminum re-useables.

I want to save the earth, and save some money at the same time.

Although I still drive my SUV, packed with squealing little girls, around our awesome Highland Village  communities, I look forward to the invention of a solar SUV!  My husband has even come on board and is threatening to embarrass me around our suburbia town by purchasing a Vespa as his main transportation vehicle.

I could no longer ignore the fact that by not doing anything to save our planet, I was actually contributing to the destruction of it! Okay, there is so much more I can do – but I am measurably disgusted by all thing compost (ewww!), and maybe I’m not ready to install photovoltaic solar panels and tubular skylights in my home to help conserve energy, but I am now pointed in the right direction! And, yes, it’s way too disgusting to think about how a vegetarians releases much less methane gas into the air as opposed to meat lovers like myself (another ewww!),  BUT I firmly believe every little bit helps.

When amazing cities like Highland Village, Flower Mound and Lerwisville, TX have residents who contribute in their own little ways, the sum of the parts can be much greener than the whole!

DNA Realty 2007 Food Drive Most Successful to Date

June 27th, 2008 by dannevitt.com

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:   1/4/2007

Every Holiday Season for the past four years, Dan Nevitt of DNA Realty, promotes citizen action and interaction to help eliminate hunger by conducting his Holiday Canned Food drive benefitting Christian Community Action’s Food Pantry.  Dan is proud to pronounce the successful results of their Fourth Annual Holiday Food Drive an accomplishment of collaboration.

DNA Realty’s Food Drive aims to increase public awareness and to fulfill their mission of providing as much food and assistance as possible to support local families in need.   Their largest and most successful drive to date, this past December 2007’s food drive made a resounding impact on replenishing the shelves at the CCA food pantry.

“For those in need,” explains Dan Nevitt, “a gift of food might have been the most important Christmas present they received.  Our success is a reflection of the time and compassion of our donors and volunteers, so thank you all!”

Dan Nevitt would also like to thank the terrific co-sponsors of the 2007 Holiday Food Drive, Sean Varin and his remarkable employees at Texas Mortgage Team for their superb efforts in collecting the food door-to-door from the compassionate resident of Briarhill Estates the week of December 17-22, 2007.

The participation of local retailers who allowed collection boxes to be placed in their businesses was an integral part of the 2007 food drive success.  Kudos to Chick-fil-a on Justin Rod; Chase Bank on FM 2499; Rockfish at The Shoppes of Highland Village; Sportscuts, Flower Mound; Northstar Bank in Lewisville; and Foot Solutions in Flower Mound, Texas.

Because of the year round demand for food, DNA Realty accepts canned food throughout the year at block parties and community events they sponsor, as well as monetary donations which they match dollar-for-dollar before presenting to CCA.

“We truly have a heart for our community,” says Dan Nevitt. “Each year we are amazed by the amount of food we collect, and the reflection on how much our fellow citizens truly care for one another.  We are neighbors in every sense of the word.”

DNA Realty and their associates remain dedicated to support the members of this community through their Real Estate business and by their consistent commitment to community service.  For more information, visit DNA Realty’s premier website for all things Real Estate at www.DanNevitt.com.
